Fifth Board Member Position Available

The Plymouth Retirement Board is seeking applications for the Fifth Member position of the Plymouth Retirement Board, to be chosen by the other four Board members, for a three-year term from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029. In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 32, Section 20(4), the Fifth Member shall not be an employee, retiree or official of the Plymouth Retirement System, or any of its constituent government units.

The Plymouth Retirement Board acts as fiduciaries of the Plymouth Retirement System and performs their duties solely in the interest of its members and beneficiaries.  The Board oversees the administration of approximately $293 million investment portfolio.

The Board meets once per month, generally the fourth Friday of each month, at 8:30 a.m., and other times as needed. Monthly meetings last for approximately 2 – 3 hours, plus supplemental and emergency meetings, as necessary. All meetings are held in the Plymouth Retirement Board Office at 212 South Meadow Road, Unit #3, Plymouth, MA. This is a volunteer position; Retirement Board members are not paid for their time. Day-to-day operations of the Plymouth Retirement System are managed by the Administrative Staff.

Board Members are required to complete 18 hours of educational training during the three-year term and must file the Annual Statement of Financial Interest with the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission. Board Members must comply with G.L. c. 268A, the States Ethics Law. The Fifth Member must become proficient in Massachusetts retirement law, and local Board policies & procedures.  Travel to local meetings and training are also required.
